I am connecting the output of an audio console with an XLR cable to the input of a Blackmagic Decklink 4K card, but no sound is coming in Multicam, what can I do ?
There is often a confusion with this card : actually the audio is embedded and transported with the video signal. So if there is no video stream entering the acquisition card, in other words if no camera is connected to the card, then sound will not be transported. With this type of card, the sound cannot be transported alone, this is not a sound card.
To get audio with this card, you need to have a video signal entering as well. You can verify the image and sound by opening the Blackmagic tool called Media Express. On Device select your 4K card and then click on the Log and Capture tab.
You should see the audio level moving.
Now, open Multicam, click on the settings (the gear icon on the bottom right corner) and click on your room. Depending on how the audio is transported (SDI audio or Analog XLR Audio), select the proper option.
Verify that the audio button is activated for the 4K card.
Now open your Multicam module (Studio, Radio, Conf...) and verify that you have sound incoming on the audio mixer.
