Since version 10.2.10, Multicam can natively output the program and its sound mix to any external software (Vmix, Teams, Zoom, Meet, etc.) automatically, without any additional configuration on Multicam. We will use this feature to send the Multicam PGM as a video and audio sources to the Vmix call.
Vmix configuration
- Add a new input
- Select Camera and select Multicam, then click OK
Now we will configure the vmix call. Depending on the license you bought for Vmix, you can have either 1, 4 or 8 vmix calls. Let's create one Vmix Call session.
- Add a new input
- Select Video Call
Regarding the audio/video parameters to send to the caller :
- Video Source : Output 1 -> it should correspond to the source number of Multicam. In this example, Multicam video feed is on source 1
- Video Bandwidth : as you want, you can select High 1080p for the best video quality or the default 720p mode
- Audio source : Master
For the audio, we will send the vmix call audio to a separate bus for minus mix. The audio needs to be sent to a specific audio output device. It can be either a hardware output that is connected to the Multicam machine, or a software output such as Dante or a virtual soundcard.
For this example, we will use a free virtual soundcard called VB-CABLE Virtual Audio Device.
In Vmix, enable audio bus A :
- Settings
- Audio Outputs
- Bus A -> select a specific audio output device. For this example, CABLE Input (VB-Audio Virtual Cable) will be selected
Don't forget to assign the vmix call to the audio Bus A and untick the Master bus for minus-mix.
Now the vmix call video needs to be sent to Multicam. In this example, an NDI output will be used :
- Settings
- Outputs / NDI / SRT
- Additional NDI Outputs -> Cameras / Calls / Audio Inputs
- Tick NDI
Multicam configuration
Open the configuration of your Multicam Room.
In AUDIO EXT. DEVICES, add the audio source to get the audio from the vmix call. In this example, it is CABLE Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable)
It is recommended to rename the input "vmix call" for example so it easier to spot it on the Multicam audio mixer later.
For the vmix call video, click on ADD INPUT on the bottom left corner, then NDI STREAM. On the source, find the vmix call. The name is usually something like :
NameOfTheComputer (Call VmixCallPassword) NDI Source at IP address:port IP
In this example, here is the NDI source :
Assign this video input as a fixed camera, then click on ADD
Now open your Multicam room. You should have the audio and video of your caller.
