The new Multicam 2.0 Companion module is made to significantly enhances the user experience by enabling fast, intuitive control through devices such as the Elgato Stream Deck and other automation systems. Users can easily configure one or multiple actions on customizable buttons, allowing them to trigger commands, or presets instantly. This integration simplifies daily operations, improves efficiency, and opens the door to advanced automation scenarios and remote productions, making the software more accessible, flexible, and powerful for both live production environments and automated setups.
To begin, add the Multicam Suite connector on Companion.
Then, configure the settings to connect the module to the Multicam software.
- Target IP : if Companion is installed on the same PC as Multicam Suite, keep the localhost IP address 127.0.0.1. If it is installed on another PC, put the IP address of the Multicam machine. Add the IP address of the Bitfocus Companion PC to the Multicam settings > systems > API > API authorized machines
- Target Port : by default, Multicam uses port 80. HTTP listen port can be configured in Multicam settings > systems > API
- Specify API key : optional. Can be added for an extra security layer. On Multicam settings, create a new API key for Companion and change the authentication method to "API keys and Machine addresses"
- Enable polling : enable the auto polling of the Companion module to get all Multicam elements information to configure the module's actions. Manual polling can also be used with the action "application | manually refresh data"
- Polling interval : how often does the Companion module retrieves all information from Multicam. Note that a lower interval can fill Multicam log files faster
- Enable verbose logging : for troubleshooting. Bitfocus log can be accessed in the menu on the left side
Multicam API HTTP port, IP address, API key and authentication method can be configured in this menu.
Troubleshooting
If you configured the IP address and port but the Multicam connector remains in an error state, click on the toggle button to disable and re-enable it. If it still in an error state, try to change the port number on both the connector settings and Multicam API settings.
If the action you add does not find any data, the polling is not active. You either need to create a button with the action APPLICATION | Manually Refresh Data and press it to manually poll the system and get the information of Multicam, or enable the automated polling. Of course Multicam Suite needs to be running at the same time.
